River activities, scenic drives, a walkable river town, a little history and a lot of open sky, everything within easy reach of Il Nido.
Barryville sits at the center of the Upper Delaware River Valley, close enough to Narrowsburg, Bethel Woods and miles of Catskills trailhead that you could fill a week without repeating a day. None of it requires much planning. Most of what's below is a short drive from the cabin, some of it is closer than that.
On the Water
The Upper Delaware runs slow and shallow through Barryville, a National Scenic and Recreational River wide enough for a full day on the water and calm enough for a first-timer. Summer means tubing and swimming holes; spring and fall bring quieter water and better fishing.

By Car
Route 97 along the Delaware is regularly ranked among the most scenic drives in the Northeast, hugging the river through Sullivan County into the Hawk's Nest section near Port Jervis. It's worth doing slowly, with a few stops.

Ten minutes up the river, Narrowsburg is the closest thing to a town center in this stretch of the valley, a walkable Main Street of galleries, antique shops and restaurants above one of the deepest points on the Delaware.

Music & Culture
About 30 minutes from Barryville, Bethel Woods Center for the Arts sits on the original site of the 1969 Woodstock festival, now an amphitheater and museum that draws touring acts throughout the summer.

Regional History
The Upper Delaware carries more history than its quiet pace suggests, from a Revolutionary War battlefield to a suspension bridge engineered by the same designer behind the Brooklyn Bridge.
